What is the difference between a laboratory diamond and a natural diamond?
While natural and lab diamonds may be similar in many ways, including appearance and chemical composition, the main differences lie in their origins, formation processes, cost and environmental impact.
The choice between a natural and a laboratory diamond depends on the individual preferences and priorities of the buyer.

What processes are used in the production of laboratory diamonds?
The processes used in the production of laboratory diamonds are:
- HPHT (high pressure high temperature)
- CVD (chemical vapor deposition)

How can you determine if a diamond is of natural or laboratory origin?
With the naked eye or with a magnifying glass it is not possible to perceive differences even by an expert gemologist, as they are both diamonds. The only possible way that can determine the difference is to carry out a specific analysis of the stone with specialized machinery present in qualified laboratories which will analyze the presence and conformation of nitrogen molecules inside the stone, managing to understand their origin.
What is the price variation between lab-grown and natural diamonds?
The LAB diamond is certainly more accessible than the natural diamond. Depending on the size, the price range between natural and laboratory diamonds changes dramatically, the larger the diamond, the greater the price difference.
What do they represent and what are the relevant factors of the 4Cs of diamonds?
The 4Cs of diamond determine the intrinsic value of a stone. They represent the main characteristics of a diamond, and are: carat (weight), color (transparency), clarity (clarity), cut (cut). For more information visit the 4 Cs of Diamond page
